Phoenix: | Hello and welcome to "The Phoenix Meets..." Today I am privileged enough to be in the company of two of the members of the Arse Bandits, a band rising fast in Irish, and international music circles, thanks primarily to the internet. Let me start by asking you, Intercontinental, about your feelings on the band and the direction that it is taking. |
Intercontinental: | Of course. Well, after the recent disappearance of Duck and Smart... |
Phx: |
You don't believe that they're dead? |
Int: | I'd rather not comment on that issue at the moment, thank you very much. However, I was saying that after the recent disappearance of Duck and Smart, there was a void left in the band. We had no one to inspire and annoy us with repeated football chants, and no one to belittle us with smart, sarky comments. |
Phx: | Was it any easier on you not having the power struggle with Duck over his creative freedom anymore? |
Int: | Of course not. I would much rather to have Duck here and struggling with him to get the best from him, than to have him wherever he is now. But since Duck's departure, Impotent has assumed the role of my main conflict in the band. When we have laid down a version of a track, he is always attempting to toy around with it, and basically adjust it to suit him. I am a perfectionist, but we have spent way too many hours in the recording studio due to his selfishness and desire for recognition. You'd think that being an icon for two different communities would be enough for him, but obviously not. |
Phx: | You are of course referring to the Gay and Impotent communities? |
Int: | Yes I am. |
From under the table, we hear a slight mumble. Upon closer inspection, we discover it to be Short Arse, who has apparently been talking since the beginnning of the interview, but we didn't notice. | |
Short: | ...So then I kicked him in the nuts, grabbed the TV off him, and legged it. |
Phx: | Err, yes, a thrilling story there from Short about how he got his new TV. So tell me Short, what do you feel it is that makes this band so special? |
Short: | Well, y'know man, like, it was a bit wer, a bit wahr, and y'know like...... (it goes on like this for a while, but roughly translated his answer means "Could you please rephrase that?) |
Part 2of this interview will follow soon - it has not yet been HTML-encoded.
